Best Parenting Advice

Becoming a new parent means adjusting to a whole new life. Fortunately, there's a huge learning curve and lots of people to help you along the way. Sure, much of that advice is unsolicited and can be somewhat annoying, but every once and a while you gets some gems.

I recently found an article in a magazine that was definitely worth sharing with other parents. What resources or advice have you learned that saved you from the brink of insanity?

I wish someone DID give me this advice: you aren't the worst parent in the world if after having your baby it suddenly occurs to you that life really wasn't so bad before and you wonder how much a healthy newborn would fetch on ebay. I'm just sayin'... These thoughts are fleeting and they don't mean you would not move Heaven and Earth for your new baby but they shocked and scared me. I spent many a shower sobbing in those early days after the birth of my son.
Also--all those parenting books--come on now, they are like diet books...a dime a dozen and your kid may just NOT be as described in those pages no matter how religiously your follow their advice and "diet" for parenting. Save your money! (Except Dr. Karp's Happiest Baby on the Block, it is sanity saving)
